Fall Hygge: DIY Apple Cider

Fall Hygge: DIY Apple Cider

This post features a “hygge” activity that has always been on my bucket list—making homemade apple cider! Fortunately my dad, who is a self-taught wine maker, had all the equipment and expertise we needed to turn fresh, farm-picked apples into yummy apple cider!

The first step was obviously picking enough apples—and needed about a bushel of apples to make about a gallon of cider.

Once we picked all the apples (my parents did most of the picking) we needed to cut them up into smaller pieces and then begin putting them through the fruit crusher to pulverize the apples. Then we put them in the fruit press to squeeze out all of the juices from the apples.

After pressing all the juice that we could POSSIBLY get from ALL of those apples, we were able to fill a gallon of cider! It was INCREDIBLY delicious and well worth all of the labor. I am so happy to be able to finally cross this fall activity off of my bucket list!
