My Ralph Lauren Inspired Baby Shower

My Ralph Lauren Inspired Baby Shower

Hello, friends! As I sit down to type this message from the couch in my living room I am currently FULL TERM pregnant and anxiously awaiting my son’s birth. So, I thought it would be a great time to share a little recap from my sweet baby shower a few months ago. My mom, the genius interior designer that she is, made my Ralph Lauren vision for the shower come to life better than I even imagined. In hindsight, I wish I captured more photos of me with the guests during the shower, but I have a nice batch of pictures that show off the decor, venue and some of me opening gifts.

venue and decor

Ever since I found out I was having a boy, my brain started picturing a very classic, Raph Lauren-inspired aesthetic for his nursery and the baby shower. Images of teddy bears, plaid, vintage sports rackets and classic navy and pale green set my vision. Some of that is definitely on trend right now, and some of it comes from my husband’s love of tennis and old school preppy sports aesthetic. Either way, I love the vibe and my mom completely nailed it!

For the location, we chose to have it in Bucks County where my parents live (about 2.5 hours away from me now) because my grandparents also live there and lots of family friends are also nearby that area. We rented out a sweet venue associated with a former restaurant that now just caters local events and it was the perfect size for our little intimate gathering. I chose to keep it small and mainly invite family and friends local to that area. I also chose not to include the girls this time because I knew they would be bored and antsy and I wanted my mother-in-law and I to be able to really be present without the distraction.

Anyways, the venue provided a delicious spread of salads and sandwiches that were a hit—especially the chicken salad on fresh croissants! There were some gluten-free options for our GF guests included which was really great. I must say, however, that the showstopper was the amazing cake my grandmom had made at a local bakery for me (see picture below). HOW CUTE IS THAT TEDDY BEAR CAKE?!?!?! I about lost it when I saw it because it was the cutest cake I’ve ever seen and it completely captured my vision for the shower. Good one, grandmom!

As for the tablescapes, mantle decor and buffet decor, that was all picked out and coordinated by my mother. I LOVED the custom onesie banner on the mantle with the teddy bears and plaid and thought the teddy bear shrub completed the look. She did a wonderful job coordinating the flowers and candles and ribbons with the adorable plaid accessories thrown in throughout. She really kept it classic, sharp and understated!

activities and gifts

After we had our lovely little lunch, we all completed a few different games and activities that were baby-related and fun to break the ice. My mom found a game card that was inspired by The Price is Right and it made us all guess the average prices of common baby items. I also really wanted my guests to leave their tidbits of motherly advice and it was special to hear those read aloud. It was a fun way to pass the time before gifts!

Speaking of gifts, I certainly got the jackpot! Not only did I get nearly every key item from my baby registry but I also received some PRECIOUS customized gifts for baby. Some that stand out to me are the hand-embroidered sign for baby’s nursery that says his name on it with some embroidered sports images from my mom. I will CHERISH this gift and hopefully keep it hanging in baby boy’s room for years to come. My grandmom also had a custom plaid blanket ordered for me with baby boy’s name on it and it’s STUNNING. The second I opened it I immediately knew I would drape it across the crib. It also compliments the cake! I also received some sweet hand-me-down gifts from my cousins and one extremely precious heirloom knit blanket from a dear family friend’s deceased mother who was besties with my dad’s mom when she was alive. This blanket is stunning and SO special. I was overwhelmed with everyone’s gifts and loved being able to share my excitement with them as I opened each one.

All in all, this baby shower was everything I could have hoped for and more. The only thing I would have changed is for somehow all of my friends and family around the world to have been able to all be there. Still, it was a precious memory and really got me excited to meet baby boy and share him with all of these amazing people.

I hope you enjoyed reading!
