Fall and Halloween House Tour

Hello friends! Fall is one of my favorite times of year to decorate (it is my favorite season) so I thought it would be fun to show you how I decorated our house for the fall and Halloween/Thanksgiving season this year. Because we have young kids, I love to go for a more whimsical and upbeat theme with the decorations while still mixing in some more classic touches.
Starting with the mantle, of course, I made sure to add some faux foliage and orange lights in addition to the painted pumpkins I did last year (see this blog post.) I added some live pumpkins the girls and I picked from the farm to the bottom of the mantle just because, why not?
I also used some of the painted pumpkins from last year to display on one of the end tables in addition to the kitchen island counter. I added some fresh live pumpkins from the grocery store to the coffee tables and found some fall-scented candles to complete the cozy look.
The girls picked out these cute Halloween-themed window stickers to add some more whimsy to the house.
Of course we couldn’t forget to add some pumpkins to the front porch! I must say, if we got trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood I would totally decorate a lot more, but unfortunately there aren’t other kids and our mountain is pretty far away from most bigger towns.
Below are pictures from the kitchen and breakfast room area. I used dried hydrangeas from our garden as the centerpieces because they turned the most beautiful mauve pink. You will also see a few more scattered live pumpkins as well as more of the painted pumpkins I did last year and a fun ceramic pumpkin candle. I love that funky Mackenzie-Childs look for the decor. I also have some fun little plastic jack-o-lantern pails and a hand-painted jack-o-lantern and cat night light that my maternal grandmother painted years ago.
Lastly, let’s talk about the lights! My favorite part of any seasonal decor is adding mood lighting that compliments the theme. This year I wrapped some faux foliage around a strand or orange lights to drape around the breakfast room window as a staple to last through Thanksgiving. Around the other artwork and coffee bar I found the most fun jack-o-lantern string lights to hang. The girls LOVE them and they cast the most enchanting orange glow at night. To top it off, I added another strand of plain orange lights on top of the stove lid in our kitchen to make sure that space didn’t feel left out.
There you have it! This is our fall decor for 2025. For those of you reading, do you like to decorate for fall? If so, what is your style? I’d love to know!
